Police said they didn’t find anyone else on the scene, and determined that this is an isolated incident.

Woman arrested for malicious wounding in connection to Northwest Roanoke shooting

ROANOKE, Va. – UPDATEThe woman police say is responsible for a shooting in Northwest Roanoke on Sunday morning is now behind bars, according to the Roanoke Police Department. Roanoke Police said they arrested 23-year-old Aariqua Austin, of Roanoke, for malicious wounding in connection to the shooting that happened in the 500 block of Madison Ave.Police determined that Austin and the victim know each other. Police said they responded to the report of a person with multiple gunshot wounds at about 11:40 a.m. in the 500 block of Madison Avenue NW. Roanoke Fire-EMS transported the man to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment, according to officials.

Woman seriously injured after Roanoke shooting, police say

ROANOKE, Va. – Authorities are investigating after a woman showed up at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with a serious gunshot wound, according to Roanoke Police. Officers said they were notified that she arrived at the hospital around 11:45 p.m. Thursday. According to police, she was taken to the hospital in a personal vehicle. Authorities said when they went to the hospital to speak with the victim, she appeared to have serious but not life-threatening injuries. Body recovered from Roanoke River identified as 40-year-old Roanoke man

UPDATE: March 24, 2021Police have identified a body recovered last week from the Roanoke River. On Wednesday, Roanoke Police have identified the body as 40-year-old Travis Lee Hill, of Roanoke. ORIGINAL STORYRoanoke police are investigating after first responders removed a body from the Roanoke River on Wednesday afternoon. At 1:09 p.m., fire and rescue workers were called to help police retrieve the body near Roanoke’s Piedmont Park along the Roanoke River Greenway.

Pedestrian dies after being hit by car on Williamson Road in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. – One person is dead after a pedestrian crash in Northwest Roanoke Friday night. At about 8:30 p.m., Roanoke Police responded to a report of a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on the 5100 block of Williamson Road NW. Upon arrival, officers found a man lying in the roadway with what they said appeared to be serious injuries. Roanoke Fire-EMS transported the man to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries shortly after. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Man shot while driving, crashes into unoccupied vehicle in Northwest Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. – Roanoke Police are investigating a shooting that happened Wednesday evening that caused a driver to crash into another vehicle. At about 5:30 p.m., an officer was in the 2400 block of Salem Turnpike NW when they heard shots fired. The officer located an injured person at the corner of 24th Street/Salem Turnpike NW. Police said the victim, an adult male, was transported by Roanoke Fire-EMS to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. This caused the man’s vehicle to crash into another unoccupied vehicle at the time of the shooting.

Roanoke Police searching for man in connection to December robbery

Man hospitalized after early Saturday morning shooting in northwest Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. – A man is injured after an early morning shooting in northwest Roanoke Saturday. At about 2:15 a.m., Roanoke Police responded to the 1600 block of Burrell Street NW for reports of a person with a gunshot wound. Officers found a man with non-life-threatening injuries when they arrived on the scene before he was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital by Roanoke Fire-EMS. Police said no arrests have been made at this time as this is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Roanoke Police at 540-344-8500.

Man steals hundreds of dollars from Roanoke business recovering from fire, COVID-19 restrictions

ROANOKE, Va. – It’s no secret how much restaurants and small businesses have struggled to survive as coronavirus cases and restrictions from the state have fluctuated. One restaurant in the Grandin Village area of Roanoke has dealt with even more and need your help after a recent theft. “They seem to be going after the gambling machine money,” speculated Morrow. Salem man charged with DUI manslaughter in connection with deadly Roanoke crash

ROANOKE, Va. – Police announced they’ve arrested a 41-year-old Salem man in connection with Thursday night’s deadly crash in Roanoke. James Brooks is charged with DUI manslaughter after a woman died in a crash at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Gainsboro Road NW. ORIGINAL STORYOne woman is dead after two Thursday night crashes on Orange Avenue about a half-mile apart, according to Roanoke Police. The victims told police that someone hit their car and then drove away, going toward downtown Roanoke on Orange Avenue, according to the police department. The driver of the suspect vehicle from the first crash, a man, was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for a medical assessment.

One person arrested after stabbing in Grandin apartment

ROANOKE, Va. – Roanoke Police are investigating an incident that left one injured and another arrested in Grandin Saturday afternoon. An officer on the scene told 10 News that a person was stabbed inside of the Grandin Village Apartments on 1700 Grandin Road around 2:40 p.m.Police said one person is arrested. Police searching for missing 16-year-old girl in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. – Roanoke Police need your help in locating a missing teenage girl. T’Kaylan Davis was last seen at her home in the 2000 block of Indian Village Lane SE. ‘A terrifying five seconds’: Shooting left Wasena residence riddled with bullet holes

ROANOKE, Va. – UPDATE - Dec. 27, 2020 at 6:22 p.m.A shooting in Southwest Roanoke Saturday night terrified neighbors and left a house riddled with bullet holes. The house has at least ten bullet holes and a neighbor picked up some rounds from the scene. Another neighbor further down the street described the incident as a terrifying five seconds. Officers located evidence of a shooting and property damage to a residence, but no injuries have been reported. 10 News went to the scene to find at least 10 bullet holes on the house left from last night’s incident.

Roanoke police create new detection unit to address rising gang violence

ROANOKE, Va – As crime continues to rise in Roanoke, a new unit in the police department is working to lower violence and bridge the gap in the community. Roughly 80% of gun-related incidents in Roanoke have been connected to gang violence, so the police department underwent a realignment to create a new gang detection unit. The rise has also prompted the city to hire a Rapid Engagement of Support in the Event of Trauma Coordinator, better known as RESET. “Some folks don’t know where to turn to in the event of experiencing traumatic appearances, and then that’s what we’re there for,” RESET Coordinator Lloyd Merchant said. New policing efforts also include visits from the department in hopes of gaining the community’s trust.

One person hospitalized in Roanoke shooting Saturday night

ROANOKE, Va. – Roanoke Police are investigating a shooting that happened Saturday night. At about 8:30 p.m., police said they responded to the 1100 block of Loudon Ave NW for a report of aggravated assault. According to authorities, officers found a victim suffering from a single gunshot wound upon arrival. The victim was later transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment and his injuries are not life-threatening. Anyone with information is asked to call Roanoke Police at 540-853-5300.

Young male hospitalized in Roanoke after found on sidewalk with gunshot wound

ROANOKE, Va. – One young person is in the hospital after a shooting in Roanoke Sunday afternoon, according to police. At 3:45 p.m., Roanoke Police said they responded to the 2600 block of Salem Turnpike NW regarding a person with a gunshot wound. As officers arrived, they found a young male with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries on a sidewalk. Authorities said the person was transported by Roanoke Fire-EMS to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment. According to police, details on this incident are limited at this time and no arrests have been made.

More than 1,700 without power in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. – According to Appalachian Power’s outage map, more than 1,700 customers in Roanoke are without power. Traffic lights are also out at a dozen intersections due to the power outage.
