As we start this morning a bit foggy, the skies will clear and we will see temperatures in the 60s last through the weekend.

This morning, our temperatures have stayed fairly mild due to overnight cloud cover and a bit of fog this morning. You’ll want to have a bit of extra time for the morning commute as the fog is most dense in the NRV and Roanoke Valleys. Fog will lift around 8-9 AM.

This morning, showers have overtaken the area with heavier bands of rain now moving into parts of the NRV and Southside Zones. Don’t forget the umbrella this morning!

We are starting off with heavy rain this morning, now moving across our viewing area. This will bring some visibility issues to an already foggy area. The good news is that once this line of heavy showers passes through, it will help clear the fog out, and we will see rapid clearing and gusty conditions to follow behind this front.

If you stepped outside early this morning, you probably noticed the classic February chill. But keep the heavy coat handy only for the morning—by afternoon, Southwest and Central Virginia will be feeling anything but wintry. We’re experiencing a remarkable jump in temperatures, with highs expected to reach the low 60s!

Southwest and Central Virginia are facing snow and bitter cold, with the highest chance for wintry weather late Friday into Saturday, according to 10 News meteorologist Jeff Haniewich. Temperatures will remain well below normal, with potential snow lingering through Saturday night and some relief by next week.
